If something increases by 50% and then decreases by 50%, you do not end up where you started. A PKR 1,000 item that goes up 50% becomes PKR 1,500. Then down 50% becomes PKR 750 — not PKR 1,000. Percentages are calculated on the current value, not the original.
A 20% discount on a PKR 1,000 item saves PKR 200. But if you want to find the original price when the discounted price is PKR 800, you cannot simply add 20% to PKR 800 (that gives PKR 960, not PKR 1,000). You need to divide by 0.8 instead.
